Jahra Road Development Project Announces New Detour Completion.
In preparations to start construction of bridges and re-location of utilities
Kuwait, 12 November 2011 - The supervising authority in charge of the Jahra Road Development project, one of the largest infrastructure projects in Kuwait, today announced the opening of the new traffic detour on Saturday 12th November 2011 located on Jahra road from its intersection with Gaheth st. heading to the United Nations roundabout.
Eng. Abdullatif Shamsah, Project Manager said: “On 12th of November 2011, after acquiring all approvals from the Traffic authority, the Jahra Road Development Project will be commencing its new 2700m long traffic detour located in Jahra road side parallel to the previous detour directed towards the United Nations roundabout. The detour’s path begins at the Gaheth –Jahra road intersection then passes through the Sabah hospitals area ending at the United Nations Roundabout. The previous detour’s path however will be reversed to start from the United Nations roundabout heading to Kuwait city.”
Commenting on the main objectives of the detour, Eng. Shamsah stated: “Due to the vast spaces needed for the structural and road development works, road detours re-route the traffic in the area, while maintaining ease of flow, and allow the formation of such spaces in order to commence the construction of bridges and the re-location of all utilities currently available for this location”.
Addressing Jahra Road users, Engineer Alfred Lotfy, Project Safety Consultant said: “With extending sincere apologies for any inconvenience this detour may cause; we ask all drivers to use caution while driving within the construction area and abide by all traffic guidelines to secure road safety for them and the project’s construction workers”.
